JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Job cost Estimator is responsible for ensuring the smooth collection of information from the customer, outside processors, sub-contractors & material suppliers. Estimating total job costs and maintaining margins is the key function of this position. Accurate reporting and functioning of subcontractors and control of their paperwork is essential. Estimator will be responsible for supporting the sales department by providing accurate & competitive quotes.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires a minimum of five year’s experience in directly estimating in a 10 million dollar or larger job shop or machine shop. Working knowledge of & experience in the fields of CNC machining, CNC turning, sheetmetal fabrication, laser, plasma, routing, welding, assembly & fabrication is essential. Previous management experience and a track record in estimating job costs, lead times and profit margins is a must. Understanding the processing functions and capabilities of the production floor as well as our vendor base. Must have the skills and knowledge to keep all lines of communication open, and be able to effectively communicate and work with employees of varying education levels. The senses of sight, speech, and hearing are required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, as frequent client interaction is required. Must be a highly organized person who can monitor numerous estimates at once and who can prioritize workloads. Mental abilities are required to compute business math formulas and to enter data onto spread sheets, journals, and ledgers.
