Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Industrial Maintenance Mechanic American Bottoms Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility, located in Sauget Illinois, is seeking an experienced, Industrial Maintenance Mechanic. American Bottoms is a regional wastewater treatment facility providing services to Sauget, East St. Louis, Cahokia, and the surrounding communities. Job Description

Industrial mechanics are responsible for repairs, overhauls, installs, and inspections of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment at the treatment plant and outlying pump stations. Maintenance employees perform preventative and predictive maintenance, identify equipment deficiencies and provide support and expertise for all plant emergencies and projects, both in groups and individually. The plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The position is Monday-Friday 6am - 2:30pm with the occasional off hour call-ins for emergency troubleshooting and repair work. No relocation or sponsorship is provided with this position.

Minimum Qualifications

Training and Experience:

• Must have industrial maintenance background
• Graduated from high school or trade school or equivalent
• Proficient in basic computer skills
• Knowledgeable of OSHA and NFPA standards
• Valid driver's license

Specific knowledge and skills:

Capable of understanding and following oral and written instructions to complete a task.

Pumps and pumping systems

o Disassemble and rebuild pumps using diagrams and drawings

o Successfully remove and install pumps in the field

o Pump components and proper material of construction for various applications

o Pump motor requirements with proper alignment techniques

o Proper installation techniques of valves and piping for various materials of construction such as PVC/HDPE/Steel/Cast Iron.

Metal working

o Ability to fabricate in-house items from drawings, diagrams or visual direction

o Knowledge of how to use different welding techniques including arc, mig and tig

o Experience with using different cutting techniques

o Machining using lathe and other tools

Carpentry

o Following drawings and building plans to fabricate structures

o Measure, cut or shape wood, plastic and other materials to fit needs

o Ability to perform various tasks to assist with maintenance of grounds and buildings
