Position Summary

**This role is eligible to work remotely but must be locally based / available to be on site as needed.

We are seeking an organized and creative person to fill the role of Communications Manager. The Manager will help execute Nexus’ communications strategy, including digital content creation and management, which is rooted in social justice, power-building, and transformation. This role writes and shares narrative-driven stories from our programs, fellows, and partners through our digital platforms. The Manager also helps build communications processes that support programs and build awareness of Nexus’ work. The Communications Manager reports to the Communications Director.

Primary Responsibilities

Content Creation & Management (65%)

Create on-brand communications deliverables (including written pieces, visuals, presentations, handouts, blogs, videos, and more) to be used across the organization.

Develop, design, and manage regular and timely external communications, including email campaigns and social media campaigns, that incorporate our organizational narrative.

Monitor digital presence of our peer organizations and trending topics on social media to strategically integrate into our digital program.

Manage website content and maintain up-to-date web copy.

Project Management (25%)

Manage timelines, roles, and duties for program-specific and organization-wide communications projects in collaboration with the Communications Director, Program teams, Admin team, and community partners.

Evaluate digital campaign performance using platform-specific data analytics metrics and performance indicators to monitor the success and areas for improvement.

Identify opportunities to share Nexus stories, values, and visions alongside the Communications Director, Program teams, and Admin team.

Oversee communications consultants on a project by project basis.

Staff Support (10%)

Assist staff in the creation of reports, presentations, brochures, and more.

Support Nexus staff to use and leverage communication tools in ways consistent with the Nexus brand, voice, and values.

Document Nexus’ work at in-person events and online events, and through interviews and storytelling with Nexus staff, community, and stakeholders as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

3-5 years of experience in a communications role or a role with significant responsibility planning, developing and executing digital content across social media platforms; writing long form pieces, such as articles, blogs, or reports; and managing communications projects with different stakeholders.

Excellent writer with ability to communicate complex concepts in simply and understandably for different audiences and through different formats.

Experience recording and producing podcasts, videos, and more is a plus.

Familiarity with digital communications tools such as the Adobe Creative Suite; Canva; Mailchimp; WordPress; social media platforms; social media management tools.

Experience using other digital tools, including Salesforce; FormAssembly; Asana; Dropbox; Microsoft Office.

Natural curiosity and excitement around taking on new projects, developing new processes, and diving into challenges.
