Surface Preparation Technologies is a leader in highway safety with offices in PA and MN. SPT is the nation's largest rumble strip contractor, combating drift-off and head-on highway crashes. Its sister company provides other highway safety services including line striping, traffic control, and permanent signage.
Surface Preparation Technologies is seeking a hands-on, operationally savvy, and strategically oriented executive to plan and direct all aspects of business development objectives, assessing new and current market success, developing new market initiatives, analyzing, and obtaining business opportunities from new customers.
KEY RESPONSILBITIES:
- Support annual strategic business plan providing all inputs on markets, opportunities, sales targets, and growth targets.
- Develop pricing strategies based on industry and competitive analysis that will increase new business opportunities.
- Participate in industry associations, seminars, trade shows, and events to best position the Companies and increase visibility.
- Meet with State DOTs to market new products, provide product education, and help influence project specifications.
- Develop and implement ideas to create strategic relationships with customers and other contractors.
- Research and understand current market, industry conditions, and develop plans to address changes and new developments.
- Research and analyze key economic factors that may influence market activity within specific niche markets or geographic areas.
- Review and analyze customer call data and develop strategies to overcome customer perceived obstacles.
- Analyze win statistics and develop strategies to increase the win rates in underperforming geographies.
- Provide ongoing progress updates on new business development activities and other key performance indicators to the management team.
- Will be required to travel 35%.
QUALIFICATIONS/PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred to have a BS in Business, Marketing, or Engineering
- Preferred to have a minimum of 15 years of experience in a business that provides products and/or services to federal, state and or local municipalities.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining effective business relationships with agencies such as FHWA, and State DOT's, with knowledge of highway construction, government contracting, or civil engineering contracts.
- Must have experience leading proposal efforts including creating bid proposals and RFP's.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
