Title: Legal Administrative Assistant

Reports to: Coordinator, Rachel Legal
Job Summary:
At the direction of and in collaboration with the Coordinator of Legal Services, the Rachel Legal Administrative Assistant is responsible for working closely with Rachel Legal staff. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive intakes of potential clients and calls from potential volunteers.
- Gather and organize evidence for case files; prepare evidence for trial and prepare and serve subpoenas when necessary.
- Organize and maintain client paper and electronic files on the agency wide database.
- Draft and send correspondence to court and other entities.
- Assist with the recruitment of new volunteers to work with victims of domestic violence.
- Assist in providing 40-hour training to volunteers of various police departments and domestic violence liaisons per curriculum recommendations of the NJ Association of DV Professionals.
- Attend community events and other duties as assigned.
- Provide relevant information to mee grant-reporting requirements.
- Work to ensure continuous quality of program with individual team members and the team as a whole.
- Other duties requested by the Coordinator of Legal Services, Director of Legal Services, and the Administrator of the Legal program.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Two years-experience in the field of DV, preferred but not required.
- Bilingual with a fluency in Spanish, preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Mac OSX
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with database management
- Ability to travel to Essex County area with own transportation.
