**This is not a Loss Prevention role. This role will focus on Logistics/Transportation security; risk management of external suppliers, vendors, logistics and transportation.**
Overview

This position will work closely with the Director of Transportation, Head of Quality, and other key functional managers to secure and fulfill customer expectations. The Supply Chain Security Manager is primarily responsible for developing, enhancing, expanding, and sustaining all internal processes, as well as KPI’s, service security performance and margin optimization. This position will drive Langham’s supplier vetting process and day to day execution while supporting Langham’s current ISO 9001 QMS, Transportation Management System, Contracts, and special projects as assigned by Director of Transportation.

NOTE: All manager level positions are expected to be cross-trained and fully assist all other functions within operations during times of peak in customer demand, business growth and capacity shortages.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated based on meeting the requirements of the job description, performance metrics and other quality indicators established for this position; working according to specifications, policies, and standards established by Langham; working effectively in a team environment; and providing a high level of internal and external customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Drive all carrier vetting, monitoring, security SOP development and CA/PA’s.
  • Perform all vetted carrier partner reviews and monitoring per ISO 9001 documented SOP’s.
  • Work with the Director of Transportation analyzing and addressing suspect client accounts as regards to Quality Performance.
  • Support processes to continually audit current mode price points vs. market for margin optimization.
  • Responsible for measuring and trending transactional quotes.
  • Assist with responding to formal customer RFP’s (Request for Pricing)
  • Assist with contract management within TMS when applicable.
  • Continually audit Operational job responsibilities and processes for continuous improvement, lean implementation, and capacity development.
  • Represent operations with all functional departments (IT, Quality, Accounting, Sales and PM) addressing questions, concerns and validating desired process improvements.
  • Present annual selection for carrier quality awards by mode.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism within and outside of functional area.

When Required:

Assist and operate Langham Trucking asset fleet as a back-up to to the Truckload Fleet Manager. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the management of Trucking asset fleet drivers
  • Load planning, cross-dock management and quoting of new business
  • Operating within compliance of all DOT and SAFETY rulings
  • Available to manage after hours operations 7 days per week.
  • Address and/or manage equipment maintenance program

Assist the Director of Transportation with every aspect of developing, managing, and controlling the Truckload, Air, Expedited, Flatbed, Intermodal, Asset Fleet, Cross-Dock and LTL operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated analytical ability, attention to detail, and strong computer skills preferably with transportation and warehouse management systems
  • Ability to evaluate alternatives to make the best overall value decisions considering cost, customer expectations and other factors
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Exercise solid judgment, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Must possess a proven record of taking initiative and responsibility, both individually and as a member of a team
  • Act with a real-time sense of urgency.
  • Possess the ability to learn and become an accomplished user in, but not limited to, customer as well as company transportation management systems, ISO Policies, and Security Programs.

Experience, education, degrees

B. S. in a business-related discipline (prefer logistics) and/or:

4-5 years’ experience in the transportation security industry.

Brokerage industry experience

Market capacity trends by industry

DAT and Load board tools

Carrier / customer negotiations

Must be proficient in Microsoft office, including Excel

Physical demands

Must be able to work proficiently with computers and other office equipment. Will spend majority of time sitting working on computers and telephones.
