      Short Description:

      This Registered Nurse provides assistance to the clinical team during pre-op, intra-op and post-procedure activities by completing a variety of tasks including gathering patient data, monitoring patient and medications throughout the patient visit, maintaining prescription drug logs, completing all necessary documentation and completing patient discharge.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      In this position, you will be responsible for the following duties (among others):

      • Provide ongoing patient information to the interventionist and clinical team during procedures to deliver vascular access care to the patient, including but not limited to, cardiac monitoring, aldrete score, pain status
      • Monitor patient vitals (HR, BP, O2Sat, EKG) during procedures
      • Maintain radiation safety when C-Arm is in use in the procedure room
      • Assist in procedure room preparation, maintain sterile techniques in the procedure room, assist with pre-and post-procedures including assessment of discharge
      • Assist in recovery room patient care following vascular access procedures
      • Monitor and record use of all medications during procedures
      • Gather patient clinical information prior to procedures including patient assessments and patient history
      • Keep clear and accurate patient medical records
      • Maintain up-to-date narcotic drug log
      • Serve as surgical technologist during procedures as needed
      • Assist center manager in maintaining inventory count as needed
      • Communicate with dialysis facilities to monitor post-care as directed by center manager
      • Observe all OSHA, infection control and radiation safety monitoring policies
      • Assist in moving patients within the center
      • Assist in scheduling patients as directed
      • Participate in access center community education programs as needed
      • Other duties required to adequately fulfill the duties of your position include
        • Work overtime with little or no notice as needed
        • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
        • Know, understand, and follow company guidelines, policies and procedures policies
        • Know, understand, and comply with all clinical and business policies and procedures
      • Other duties and tasks as assigned

      Required Qualifications

      • Associate Degree in Nursing from accredited school of nursing program
      • Active state RN license
      • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – or the ability to attain within 2 weeks of hire
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer applications
      • Proficiency in electronic medical records system

            Preferred Qualifications

            • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from accredited school of nursing program
            • Experience using EPIC electronic medical record system

              • Must have ability to work both independently and effectively as part of a team
              • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

              Pay Range:

              $40.00/hour and up, depending on experience

              Physical Demands

              Physical requirements may vary slightly and should be reviewed with your manger. In general, this position requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted; ability to stand for extended periods of time and to perform repetitive stooping, walking, stretching, reaching and some sitting; ability to use full range of body motions required to lift patients, wear a lead apron, and lift and move supplies.

              Work Environment

              Job required tasks routinely involve a potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, tissues or potential spills or splashes. Use of appropriate personal protection measures is required for every healthcare provider in these positions. Require to routinely use standard office equipment such as laptop, computer, mouse, and photocopier.

              Beginning in 1973, Balboa has grown from two physicians to a comprehensive nephrology team of 52 board certified physicians and 8 advanced practitioners. On January 1, 2018, Balboa Nephrology Medical Group (BNMG) launched Balboa United, a full-service medical practice management services organization. From one small office, BNMG now has 24 clinical offices throughout San Diego, Imperial, Orange and Riverside counties. In addition to office and hospital-based patient care, Balboa physicians manage the dialysis treatments of approximately 4,500 patients at 88 dialysis centers and conduct Nephrology based clinical research at 6 centers throughout Imperial and San Diego counties (California Institute of Renal Research).
