Professionals at a nephrology practice often encounter challenges such as managing complex care for patients with chronic kidney disease, coordinating treatment with other specialists, and staying updated on rapidly evolving treatment protocols and technologies. The role requires strong communication skills to educate patients about dialysis, transplant options, and lifestyle changes. Additionally, professionals may face emotional challenges, as many patients require long-term, ongoing care and support.

What are Nephrology Associates?

Nephrology Associates are typically groups or practices of medical professionals who specialize in nephrology, the branch of medicine focused on kidney care and treating diseases of the kidneys. These groups often consist of board-certified nephrologists, along with nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare staff. They diagnose and manage conditions such as chronic kidney disease, hypertension, kidney stones, and electrolyte disorders, and often oversee dialysis treatment. Patients are often referred to Nephrology Associates for specialized care, ongoing management, or second opinions regarding kidney health. Their goal is to help maintain kidney function, prevent complications, and improve patients’ quality of life.

To thrive as a Nephrology Associate, you need a strong background in renal physiology, clinical nephrology, and patient care, often supported by a medical degree and relevant specialty certification. Familiarity with dialysis machines, electronic medical records (EMR), and laboratory diagnostic tools is crucial. Excellent communication, empathy, and attention to detail help in managing complex patient cases and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. These skills ensure effective treatment, patient safety, and high-quality care for individuals with kidney-related conditions.

Job description

Nephrology Associates is seeking enthusiastic, energetic nephrologists with excellent communication skills and a strong desire to grow a thriving practice across the metropolitan and surrounding regional communities. We are looking for physicians who aspire to become respected local and national leaders—while maintaining a meaningful work–life balance.

Nephrology Associates is the largest single-specialty private nephrology practice in Tennessee, serving Greater Nashville, Middle Tennessee, and Southern Kentucky. For over 40 years, our practice has grown into a dynamic, physician-led organization comprised of 26 board-certified nephrologists and 12 advanced practice providers, all dedicated to exceptional patient outcomes and patient experience.

Our multifaceted practice model supports clinical growth and leadership development. Many of our physicians serve as department chairs within regional health systems and hold national board and advisory positions. As recognized leaders in nephrology, our partners actively mentor and create leadership opportunities for new physicians joining the practice.

Nephrology Associates strong relationships with dialysis companies such as DCI, Fresenius and Davita allows for the highest quality of care as our providers are medical directors for most of the dialysis clinics in the area. This allows for the most consistent continuity of care for our patients.

Nephrology Associates is widely regarded as the premier nephrology practice in Tennessee and is nationally recognized by the Renal Physicians Association for excellence in care. We are known for innovation, including the development of one of the largest private‑practice transplant programs in the United States, with nationally leading rates of preemptive transplantation. With our Evergreen Nephrology partnership, our forward‑thinking approach extends to value‑based care models with CMS and commercial payers, consistently driving high‑quality, high‑value outcomes for our patients.

Why Nashville?

Nashville is truly the jewel of the South. With a metropolitan population approaching one million, the area offers world‑class entertainment, renowned dining, vibrant culture, and a rich musical heritage. Physicians enjoy all four seasons, affordable housing, and a reasonably low cost of living, making Nashville an exceptional place to live and work.
