Job Description

As a Lead Teacher, your mission is to develop a lifelong love of learning. You will plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans. Curriculum should incorporate Catherine’s Cottage Daycare’s mission, culture, goals, values, philosophies, and policies into the day-to-day learning experience.


Reporting to the Executive Director, we are seeking a dedicated, energetic, and motivated individual for this role.

Compensation:

$20 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Executive Director and teachers in maintaining a safe, inclusive, supportive, and positive school community for staff, families, and children
  • Set an example for and serve as a mentor to fellow teachers
  • Develop and implement lesson plans; Provide lesson plans and classroom support at the Toddler, Preschool, and Pre-K levels
  • Lead the team in developing and maintaining clear objectives that contribute to top-notch instruction
  • Support additional classroom activities, including free play, bathroom breaks, lunchtime, and rest time for students
  • Interact with children to provide a safe and nurturing environment that encourages play, exploration, and social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development
  • Collaborate with other teachers to ensure that the school fosters an environment that is inviting and nurturing for every child
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment, including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and the safety and security of children
  • Demonstrate full range of motion to lift, reach, squat, climb sit, and otherwise fully participate in activities
  • Communicate potential concerns in a timely and effective manner
  • Participate in staff and training meetings
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
  • Prior classroom experience in child care, preschool, or kindergarten
  • A bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field is required; Recent graduates with a passion for having an impact in the field of early childhood education are encouraged to apply

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
