HR Generalist/ Payroll Specialist

Reporting to Human Resources Director of Americas, the HR Generalist/Payroll Specialist will be responsible having a broad knowledge for various human resources functions to include, being a solid backup for ADP Workforce Now payroll for the US population as well as be the back up to our international locations. The HR Generalist will also be the back up the current Benefits Administrator to ensure all employee situations are handled in a timely and compliant fashion.

Using their Generalist knowledge, this person will also serve as a key point of contact for the employee base on all aspects of Human Resources activity. Using their experience and continuous improvement spirit, we challenge the HR Generalist to bring recommendations to senior management to help improve the employee experience or streamline processes.

Responsibilities:

HR Generalist:

  • Ensure HR day to day tasks are completed for the site. These tasks can be administrative, tactical and strategic in nature.
  • Plan, monitor, and appraise HR activities by scheduling management conferences, resolving employee grievances, training managers in how to coach and discipline, and counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Champion the onboarding process for both temp and direct hires by ensuring that it's high-quality and up to date and provide clarity and connection for employees so their roles serve the overall business vision.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Work with vendor to administer leave programs, processes applicable paperwork and disability claims if needed.
  • Creating onboarding plans and educating newly hired employees and managers on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations
  • Maintaining physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits, and attendance records
  • Creating employee engagement plans, getting necessary budget approval, and initiating activities
  • Partner with HR business partners for performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships of trust and credibility with the workforce, and leaders that not only improve business performance, but also the capabilities of the organization.
  • Drive innovation and transformation in HR functions and processes, leveraging data insights to lead to profitable action.
  • Handle confidential matters with tact, professionalism, and discretion.

Payroll:

  • Using the services of external payroll processors (ADP WFN and Celegro) for the US and International populations, administer and accurately process payroll for approximately 500 employees, including responding to employee payroll related inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Compiles payroll reports covering a range of topics, meticulously analyzes data and presents insightful information to the company’s leadership and carriers.
  • Provides Accounts Payable with carrier invoices, reports, and monthly department expenses in a timely manner.
  • Manages ACA and Year-End checklist in payroll HRIS system for U.S.

Benefits:

  • Secondary contact on day-to-day benefits and 401(k) provider partners, administer HR and payroll setup for new team members, including initial and ongoing benefits administration.
  • Support the execution of the annual open enrollment for the company; implements benefit plans into the HRIS system and is responsible for enrollment setup and plan changes with the carriers.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years or more experience in human resources executing payroll, benefits, employee relations and employee development.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong working knowledge of processing payroll with ADP Workforce Now required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) will put you ahead.
  • Understanding of employment related laws and regulations in the US. International understanding will put you ahead.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills required.
  • Proactive, positive, professional, and self-motivated is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills while working well under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able sit for longer periods of time as well as move about throughout the office and machine shop environment.
  • Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear when touring the production floor.
