SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise staff, interns, and volunteers as assigned.
SUMMARY
The position involves preparing financial reports, conducting analyses, and providing summaries for management. This includes identifying variances, leading budget planning, and participating in projects of moderate to complex scope.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position is assigned to serve in one or more accounting areas within the Finance Office, including but not limited to: Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Insurance, Payroll, Program Accounting (includes budgeting, monitoring, and reporting), Quality Assurance, Retirement Plans, and/or Treasury.
Responsibilities include compiling reports, offering financial interpretations, and collaborating with Finance Department Leadership to develop operational and financial reports.
Develops work plans and proactively identifying data and analytical needs to support financial and program management.
Leads the planning and development of Administrative and Program budgets and conduct analyses on variances and cost trends.
Ensures analyses align with agency policies and objectives and provide ongoing user education on financial matters.
Create and maintain Excel worksheets, generates journal entries, and prepares audit schedules and special reports as assigned.
Reviews transactions for compliance, compiles data for financial reports, and provides functional direction to junior finance staff.
Provides financial guidance for programs within the organization.
Coordinates, compiles, and verifies financial reports and analyses.
Travels for agency business using reliable transportation.
Works evenings and weekends as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONSTo execute this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED.
Bachelor’s Degree in in Accounting, Finance or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years of related experience in financial analysis and budgeting required.
Previous experience in both financial and operational data analysis preferred.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
CPA preferred.
Advanced proficiency Microsoft suite applications, including advanced functions such as graphics, pivot tables, macros and database management.
Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
Highly developed knowledge of finance theories such as present values theory, cash flow analysis and accounting principles.
Able to formulate finance study designs and prepare and conduct professional presentations.
Ability to facilitate design and requirements definitions meetings with a wide variety of managerial leaders.
Knowledge/ability of detailed financial and operational data analysis and consultative skills.
Works under limited guidance; accountable to complete work assignments.
Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.
Maintain a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law, and insurability by agency carrier for those driving agency vehicles.
