Position: Operating Room Nurse
Location: North Providence, RI
Job Description:
The Operating Room Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of surgical care to patients undergoing various procedures. They collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare team members to provide high-quality perioperative care.
Responsibilities:
Pre-operative Preparation: Assist in preparing patients for surgery by ensuring proper identification, confirming surgical site, and addressing any pre-existing conditions or concerns.
Intra-operative Assistance: Provide direct patient care during surgical procedures, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with positioning, passing instruments and supplies, and maintaining a sterile field.
Post-operative Care: Monitor patients post-surgery, assess their recovery progress, and provide appropriate interventions as needed to promote comfort and safety.
Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other members of the surgical team to optimize patient outcomes and maintain a safe operating room environment.
Documentation: Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including pre-operative assessments, intra-operative interventions, and post-operative observations, in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
Patient Education: Provide education to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, post-operative care instructions, and potential complications.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Rhode Island.
- Certification: Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in perioperative nursing or operating room experience strongly preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Additional Information:
- Schedule: Full-time, part-time, and per diem positions available.
- Shifts: Rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- On-call: Participation in on-call rotation may be required.
- Training: Comprehensive orientation and ongoing education provided.
