Driver

GC Central Yard is currently seeking a Class A CDL Driver. This position will be located in Port Arthur, TX.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.

1. Walk, drive vehicles, or use public conveyances in order to reach destinations to deliver messages or materials.

2. Load vehicles with listed goods, ensuring goods are loaded correctly and taking precautions with hazardous goods.

3. Plan and follow the most efficient routes for delivering goods.

4. Deliver messages and items, such as documents, and packages, between office, dry-dock and departments.

5. Record information, such as items received and delivered and recipients' responses to messages.

6. Check with office after completed deliveries, in order to confirm deliveries and collections and to receive instructions for other deliveries.

7. Be able to load and unload equipment, material and supplies.

8. Organize and maintain inventory items at pick up to ensure requested material is correct prior to delivery.

Required Education & Experience:

1. High School Diploma or six months to one year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Have and maintain a valid states driver’s license.

3. CDL A – Required

4. TWIC Card - Required

Working Conditions:

1. Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, etc.

2. Must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE.

3. Some climbing and lifting (70 lbs.) involved.

4. Loading and Unloading equipment (70lbs.) involved.

Necessary Equipment Operation:

1. Operate machinery such as automobile, trucks, trailers, and forklifts.

Special Skills:

1. Maintaining composure under pressure.

2. Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees.

3. Ability to change directives while still being mindful of other task.

4. Bilingual (English/Spanish - a plus)
