JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer II in the Separation Filtration group, is responsible for executing the project from an engineering standpoint. Developing and maintaining timely and accurate output of technical engineering support and managing assigned projects while working closely with all business unit departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes project specifications and performance requirements to determine the appropriate equipment design.
  • Performs ASME calculations using codeware COMPRESS, generates technical documentation based on customer requirements, and provides input to the design drafting team in the form of a Scope of Work.
  • Creates and reviews technical datasheets (regular and ISF formats).
  • Select the appropriate instrumentation based on the customer specification.
  • Provides engineering and technical support to Project Management team on Original Equipment projects.
  • Provides primary communication for all technical documentation between customers and vendors.
  • Provides technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations.
  • Confers with other personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develop suitable product designs.
  • Reviews general arrangement and fabrication detail drawings.
  • Directs designers in preparation of product or system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
  • Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
  • Evaluates and approves structural designs as necessary.
  • Participates in and supports new products or product development strategies.
  • Travels to customer or vendor sites as necessary to participate in meetings or inspections.
  • Maintains current knowledge of new trends in products/processes.
  • Attends internal meetings as required.
  • Interfaces directly with vendors, customers, consulting engineers, and representatives regarding project engineering issues.
  • Provides technical support to the Aftermarket team as needed.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Chemical preferred
  • Must have 5-7 years engineering experience.
  • Experience in designing ASME VIII div. 1 or 2 pressure vessels.
  • Experience with codeware COMPRESS preferred.
  • Understanding of Separation and Filtration technologies in the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience interfacing with marketing, sales, manufacturing, and vendors regarding solution of product problems and translation of customer requirements into product specifications.
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and analytical engineering skills in the application of technologies to new projects.
  • Ability to overcome obstacles to achieve goals and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Ability to travel, as required.
  • Experience using MS Office, Excel, and other normal business software.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD (2-D and 3-D).

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • PE preferred

  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Design — Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Physics — Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic, and sub- atomic structures and processes.

  • Inductive Reasoning - The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).

ADA REQUIREMENTS (For U.S. positions only):

Positions in this function typically require typing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

  • Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job.
  • Compliance with company attendance standards.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

No travel is required.
