Welding Engineer - DIRECT HIRE

Summary:

This client is looking for candidates that specifies ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1, and customer specification compliant welding procedures, weld joint configuration, and coordinates weld procedure/welder qualification by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Actively develop new welding procedures and welding methods.
• Liaison between Engineering other necessary personnel.
• Communicate with customers regarding welding issues.
• Review and assign welding procedures.
• Maintain welder qualifications and test methods.
• Calculate weld consumables.
• Maintain the Welding Procedure Specification and Procedure Qualifications Report.
• Determine appropriate methods for fabricating and joining materials.
• Plan and evaluate new projects, consulting with other engineers and corporate executives, as necessary.

COMPUTER SKILLS

• Personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, and AutoCAD.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

1. 1yr Vo-tech, military, & community college all considered. BS engineering degree preferred.
2. Must have working knowledge of ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1, and section IX.
3. Must have working knowledge of AWS D1.1
4. Must have knowledge in strength of materials and be able to perform basic engineering strength calculations.
5. Must have a basic understanding of welding metallurgy & heat treatment.
6. Preference is given to individuals with the following (or similar) certifications:
7. AWS: CWI, CWEng, SCWI
8. CWB: Certified welding supervisor, Certified welding engineer
9. API: 510, 570, 653
