SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Health Center Administrator, the Patient Care Supervisor is responsible for supervision of the medical assistants and the day-to-day activities related to patient care. Responsible for the health and safety of the patient and advocate to improve patient outcomes.
The Patient Care Supervisor will work collaboratively with the Patient Experience Supervisor and interact with all members of the healthcare team to identify, prioritize and implement clinical intervention strategies. Responsible for assisting in the development of medical assistant skills to foster an environment of growth for improving staff retention. Promote delivery of care systems to define needs and facilitate solution strategies for providing quality healthcare services to patients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Respond to internal and external customer needs in a positive manner, utilizing principles of the AIDET model; exceeding their needs and expectations and providing the highest quality service to ensure the best possible outcomes.
· Oversee all essential duties and responsibilities for medical assistants
· Responsible for ensuring adherence to screening all patients who present at the health center without an appointment and presenting the RN Health Center Administrator or Provider with clinical information to determine appropriate medical follow-up.
· Assist in the registration and check-out process as needed.
· Complete duty roster for clinical staff assignments (administrative/phone messages, patient cases, and tasks, including, but not limited to clinical questions, pharmacy, hospital and physician inquiries)
· Demonstrates and role models the practice of standard precautions, including proper hand washing technique, in caring for the patients as well as administering medications and performing and/or assisting with procedures.
· Responsible for applying correct and up-to-date pharmacological principles in administering medication.
· In collaboration with the Patient Experience Supervisor, ensure all claims have been closed and submitted by the end of each business day. Complete follow-up for open claims by to ensure claim submission.
· Work collaboratively with the Patient Experience Supervisor for maintaining clinic supplies and submission of orders for clinic supplies.
· Responsible for notifying the Patient Experience Supervisor of equipment needs, repairs, and inspections so the designated administrative staff responsible for coordination with the medical equipment vendor can be notified.
· Responsible for completion of Specific Onboarding Checklist for newly hired Medical Assistants within 90 days and yearly competency and submit to direct supervisor for review.
· In collaboration with Patient Care Supervisor ensure daily, real-time management of patient schedules to ensure appropriate patient access.
· In collaboration with Patient Experience Supervisor, responsible for the completion and submission of monthly Joint Commission Walk-through to ensure compliance.
· Collaborates with Health Administration to communicate ongoing policy and procedural changes to ensure on-site implementation and provide support and guidance as necessary.
· Attend any additional training identified by program management as necessary for the job.
· Complete all Core Curriculum training(s) required for this position.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty, responsibilities, essential functions and key competencies satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with minimum 3-5 years of experience; or Medical Assistant with 2 years of supervisory experience.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Current driver’s license
Current auto insurance
Ability to work late evening hours
Ability to work some weekend hours
Ability to work some holidays
Ability to travel to and work at other clinics as needed
