Job Description

Commercial Plastics seeks a full-time Mold Technician on 3rd Shift for our manufacturing facility in Waverly, NE. We are experiencing a tremendous amount of growth in our Waverly, NE Facility. 3rd Shift Schedule: Mon-Fri, 12am-8am

Essential duties and responsibilities can include, but are not limited to, tending one or more injection molding press/assembly lines, special purpose machines, or industrial robots to mold workpieces to specifications on production basis by performing the following duties.

Machine Responsibilities for Mold Technician:

  • Install mold by using hoist or forklift to lift and then manually manipulates and secures mold in press
  • Set up and shut down molds according to set-up sheet and diagram, for example, properly attaches/removes water lines and safety equipment
  • Start machine, engage feed, and observe operation
  • Move machine controls and guide to adjust machine to meet product specifications
  • Replace worn machine accessories such as controls or switches
  • Clean press, molds and parts

Production Responsibilities for Mold Technician:

  • Inspect and measure machine product to verify conformance to specifications
  • Record production and raw material usage accurately in inventory software
  • Prepare and position support equipment and raw material
  • Tend support equipment other than molding press and mold

General Responsibilities for Mold Technician:

  • Assist in providing support and training to operators
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment following safety procedures and policies

Supervisory Responsibilities for Mold Technician:

  • Assist in directing the molding operators
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Train employees, relieve operators for their breaks, address product complaints and resolve problems

Qualifications for Mold Technician:

  • Knowledge of the property of plastics and the molding process to identify problems and solutions
  • Ability to qualify and maintain for forklift certification
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Mechanical experience is required
  • Plastics processing experience is preferred
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds

Required Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

Required Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

Required Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
