Position Purpose:

The Nail Technician performs professional nail, hand and foot treatments. They must possess a thorough knowledge of the nails, including a basic knowledge of hand and foot massage techniques and a neat application of polish. They must have excellent cleanliness and sanitation skills and be willing to train in our spa’s specific nail service offerings. In addition, they must be able to learn the product/services and effectively communicate to meet the needs of our guests.

Essential Functions:

• Be on time for your shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service.
• Provide consistent professional nail, hand and foot treatments in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices.
•  Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the spa.
• Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
• Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products while educating and training guests in these areas.
• Actively promote home care programs, meeting minimum retail sales goals of 10%.
• Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures.
• Perform prep work and properly clean and restock work area as required.
• Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention.
• Actively promote the spa, treatments, services, sessions and retail, as well as programs, promotions and/or discounts available.
• Handle guests’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously and provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by guests ensuring complete guest satisfaction.

• Directly report to the Nail Tech Supervisor, Spa Director and Assistant Director.
• Supervision and training will be administered by the Nail Tech Supervisor

Supportive Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

• Possess ability to work without direct supervision.
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
• Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the spa.
• Assist in all areas of spa operation as requested by management.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

• Must possess the skill required to perform various types of nail services.
• Must be knowledgeable in contraindications
• Must be able to perform treatments within the time scheduled
• Must have the ability to work under pressure without letting that pressure show to the guest

Qualification Standards:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Accredited Nail Tech School with 240+ hours completed.

Experience:

One-year experience in performing nail services. High end/luxury spa services or spa environment.

Licenses or certificates:

Must possess current licenses and certificates for nail techs as required by the state, county, city/town. Up to date on state required CEU’s.

Grooming:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance in accordance with policy set forth by the management of the Hilton Sandestin Beach & Golf Resort.  Issued uniforms must be maintained and worn at all times while on property.

Punctuality:

All nail techs are expected to arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled shifts in order to prepare treatment room for the shift.
