Merchant Underwriter

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Merchant Underwriter to join our team. As a Merchant Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in evaluating merchant applications, ensuring compliance, and managing risk. Responsibilities:

1. Application Review and Underwriting:

• • Thoroughly review incoming merchant applications.
  • Verify the authenticity of documentation.
  • Align processing limits with the merchant’s business type.

1. Risk Assessment:

• • Evaluate risk based on business category and expected transaction volumes.
  • Analyze credit profiles and additional financial information to assess risk.

1. Document Review:

• • Scrutinize supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Adhere to card brand policies, federal regulations, and bank requirements.

1. Financial Analysis:

• • Examine previous processing statements to determine volume accuracy and potential exposure.
  • Make reserve recommendations to mitigate risk.

1. Ongoing Monitoring:

• • Conduct periodic reviews of existing accounts.
  • Adjust credit limits based on volume changes or business developments.

1. Collaboration:

• • Work independently and collaboratively with peers to achieve team goals.
  • Utilize effective call handling techniques for sales and merchant support.

1. Merchant Onboarding:

• • Perform thorough reviews of documentation during the onboarding process.
  • Coordinate site surveys to validate business information.

1. Risk Mitigation:

• • Devise solutions to minimize financial risk associated with card acceptance.

1. Additional Duties:

• • As assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of experience in payments or banking.
• Prior underwriting experience in the credit card processing industry is preferred.
• Familiarity with payments and banking statement financials.
• An understanding of merchant payments industry, specifically credit underwriting.
