What You’ll Be Doing:

Conduct planning, scheduling, organization, control, and completion of engineering projects within areas of assigned responsibility. Plan and formulate technical projects and organize those involved according to project requirements. Monitor expenditures on projects and report status to management. Maintain project schedule, monitor project progress compared to schedule and report status to management. Become familiar with and develop a good working knowledge of the manufacturing processes that the company uses to produce product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others as assigned.

  • New Product Implementation scheduling and planning.
  • Act as primary non-commercial customer interface, including:
    • Product technical issues, such as tolerance and GD&T negotiation.
    • Coordination of customer prints in launch process.
    • Act as liaison between customer and internal resources.
  • Hold the New Product Launch process accountable to on-time completion and budgetary constraints. Report status and obstacles to meeting goals to management for resolution.
  • Coordination of establishing supply for purchased components and raw materials through Purchasing for all assigned projects.
  • Coordination of establishing outside services through Purchasing for all assigned projects.
  • Development, definition and implementation of product packaging for all assigned projects.
  • Coordinate the development and the release of job books throughout the product launch process, and oversee the conversion of the job book to a “released for production” format upon product launch completion.
  • Plan and document bill of materials and process routing products.
  • Coordinate the development and completion of engineering matters for products in all assigned projects, including GD&T, SPC, PFMEA, FAI/PPAP.
  • Oversee the collection of all required data for the reporting of New Product Launch metrics.
  • Ensure that all reviews and critical communications between various resources in the New Product Launch process occur and are documented.
  • Coordinate cost reduction/avoidance programs across departmental lines.

Schedule: This exempt-level role will primarily work eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs and will primarily be day-time hours but may occasionally work or travel nights or weekends as needed.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent education and experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience with the new product launch process in manufacturing environment, including exposure to or responsibility for GD&T, SPC, PFMEA, FAI/PPAP
  • Experience with customer-facing roles providing sales support (could include technical support, quality, sales, customer service or other similar roles)
  • Proficient with computer software including Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project or similar, CAD 3-D modeling software or similar, and ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to work onsite with a reasonable commute to Shelbyville, KY
  • Ability travel domestically and/or internationally no more than 10-20% of time.
  • US Person as defined by ITAR/EAR

Preferred:

  • Engineering, Masters or MBA degree
  • Project Management Certification
  • Experience in lean manufacturing and ISO, NADCAP or AS9100 quality environments.
  • Experience with producing to customer specifications.
  • Familiarity with or knowledge of metals and metal forming processes including welding, tube bending and/or roll forming.
