Job Summary:

The Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting the Controller with planning and directing the accounting operations of the company.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Act as coach and mentor to AR, AP, and GL personnel in the Finance department.
  • Handle onboarding, training, discipline, and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of AR, AP, and GL.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Provide oversight and direction to the accounting personnel in the Finance department.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and consolidate financial statements.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls.
  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger.
  • Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting personnel.
  • Assist the Controller with the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with accounting principles adopted by the organization.
  • Assist with the budget process.
  • Analyze and report cost variances.
  • Serve as a liaison to external auditors and income tax preparers and provide needed information for any annual audits and the preparation of the organization’s income tax returns.
  • Perform other related ad hoc projects as assigned.
Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or in a related field required.
  • Five years or more of experience as a senior accountant, accounting manager, and/or assistant controller required.

Preferred:

  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
