Summary
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for tasks that expand throughout Accounts Payable, Payroll, and the General Ledger; ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and ownership of the accounting financial process. This position will perform a variety of routine and non-routine clerical/ accounting functions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Processes invoices and payments in a timely fashion according to established policies and procedures including obtaining all required levels of approval signatures in regards to check request items.
- Perform three-way matching between Packing Slips to Purchase Orders to Invoices.
- Reconcile Vendor Statements.
- May assist AP Supervisor in performing accounts payable check runs.
- May assist AP Supervisor by assuring accuracy and timeliness of monthly A/P close schedule activities including balancing reports, accruals, reclassifications, and special research projects.
- Responsible for Accounts Payable check distribution.
General Ledger
- Assist with end of month closing.
- Data entry into Excel spreadsheets.
Payroll
- May assist Payroll Supervisor with running reports and verifying manual entered data in the Payroll and Time Keeping Systems.
- Responsible for Payroll check distribution.
General
- Responsible for scanning and filing journal entries.
- Must be physically present to work a regular, reliable, and predictable work schedule in accordance with business demands, and maintain a consistent and regular attendance record.
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities, tasks, or duties as requested.
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time

- Serve as a contributing Team Member of the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians enhancing the Casino’s operations in all its business endeavors.
Education / Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age, or older.
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- One to two years of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
- Solid verbal and communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proactive and a self-starter; able to recommend best practices.
- Ability to work independently and to work with people at all levels.
- Thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment.
- Must be able to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States of America.
Certificates, licenses and registration
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission license.
- Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and/or alcohol testing.
