Quandary is a full-service environmental consulting firm based in Denver, Colorado. Founded in 2016 Quandary has quickly become a top choice for clients in the construction, oil & gas, renewable energy, electric utility, and government sectors. We provide environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, air quality, remediation, weed management, stormwater management, and other environmental services to clients throughout the country.

The ideal candidate will have experience in weed spraying. The candidate should have experience with native vegetation and noxious weed surveys, GIS mapping, and treatment. Candidates will be available for seasonal work between April 2024 through July 2024, with the potential to extend employment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Independently and collaboratively conduct fieldwork in remote locations.
  • Perform weed management duties including spraying (via UTV and backpack) and mapping of treatment areas.
  • Collect detailed, accurate scientific field data.
  • Interpret spatial data using field tablets and handheld GPS units.
  • Assist with creation of client deliverables including written reports and maps.
  • Actively participate in safety programs and support a safe work culture.
  • Additional tasks as assigned.

Key Capabilities/Skills:
  • Working knowledge of relevant noxious weed regulations.
  • Experienced plant identification - native vegetation and weed species.
  • Demonstrated, recent weed spraying experience. BLM experience preferred.
  • Ability to navigate and reside in remote areas.
  • Must be comfortable independently operating UTVs, handling and mixing chemicals, and loading equipment in vehicles and trailers.
  • Ability to travel to remote locations alone with minimal supervision.
  • Team player and fast learner.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.

Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field preferred
  • Licensed Certified Operator with State of Colorado Department of Agriculture, or Commercial Pesticide Applicator License.
  • Or willing to obtain a certified operator's license.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting heavy objects, up to 50lbs.
  • Fieldwork can experience inclement weather conditions, such as extremely hot or cold temperatures.
  • Fieldwork can require daily travel with extended hours driving to and from client sites.
  • Standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Walking long distance over rugged terrain
  • repetitive tasks that are physically demanding

Expected Salary: $24.00 - $26.50 per hour, DOE.
Job Type: Seasonal Full-time
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week average, schedule dictated by client needs
Work Location: Denver, CO: Reliably commute to Denver office daily.
