Peak is hiring a Pastry Sous Chef to Join our Team.

Peak is a premium restaurant located on the 101st floor of 30 Hudson Yards; in a State-of-the-Art building with panoramic views and situated above Edge the highest outdoor observation deck in the city. A luxurious destination with breath-taking views of lower New York City.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and manage the pastry department of kitchen, working together with the other chefs and managers.
  • Menu development, implementation, costing and presentation of desserts to the highest quality and standards
  • Ensure the pastry department adheres to health and safety regulations
  • Understand and follow all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs.
  • Assist with recruiting and selection of kitchen staff
  • Coach and mentor staff.
  • Have working knowledge of inventory and ordering systems.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Able to follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • Good knowledge of pastry arts and ingredients
  • Confident culinary techniques and skills
  • Good sense of planning and preparation for the day and week ahead
  • Diligent and meticulous in making and receiving orders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Punctual and discipline to ensure optimal work performance
  • A spirited, enthusiastic disposition, with a commitment to team morale, positive culture and restaurant success!
  • Experience hiring, training, and mentoring all hourly BOH staff
  • 3+ yrs. prior supervisory experience within a pastry department
  • NYC Food Handler/Sanitation Certified
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and works well in an environment with time constraints
  • Ability to handle last minute changes and keep open lines of communication with all staff
  • Reliable and able to maintain a schedule availability flexible to the business demands

Compensation: $75-$85K
