Description

The Information Technology Specialist at Alaska Garden & Pet Supply plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of technology across our expansive 2.5 city blocks. This boots-on-the-ground position is dedicated to maintaining and securing all aspects of our technological infrastructure to support the successful operation of our business across diverse platforms.

Duties and responsibilities

• • IT Systems Support: Resolve issues and coordinate with outside IT support regarding IT data systems across diverse platforms such as IBM, S2K, Cognos, Windows, and POS systems. This includes troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades to ensure optimal performance.
• • Microsoft Suite Maintenance: Resolve issues and coordinate outside IT support to ensure Microsoft suite of products meets required expectations regarding efficiency and operation throughout the organization.
• • Workstation Installation and Maintenance: Install and maintain workstations to facilitate productivity and efficiency for end-users, ensuring they have reliable access to necessary technology resources.
• • Website Maintenance and Data Integration: Ensure EDI for large volume customers is accurate, functional, security, and functionality to ensure operational efficiency.
• • Weekend On-Call Support: Rotate weekend on-call duties to address any urgent IT issues promptly, ensuring continuity of operations and minimal disruption to business activities.
• • Security Camera Installation & Maintenance: Install security cameras and data wiring both indoors and outdoors to enhance security measures and surveillance capabilities across organizational facilities.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Educational or Experiential Background: Preference for candidates with a college degree in a relevant field, or a demonstrated track record of 3 to 5 years in the IT industry.

• Proactive Problem Resolution: Ability to identify and resolve work-related issues proactively, ensuring smooth operations and minimal disruptions.

• Effective Time Management: Demonstrated success in managing time efficiently, exhibiting organizational skills, and maintaining thoroughness in task execution.

• Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities are essential, including the capacity to convey information effectively and receptivity to feedback. Must exhibit adaptability, flexibility, and a collaborative approach as a team player.

• Commitment to Continuous Learning: Display a willingness and eagerness to learn new technologies, methodologies, and best practices within the ever-evolving landscape of IT.

Physical Demands

• Ability to safely lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Proficient in climbing stairs and ladders as needed for job tasks.

• Demonstrated dexterity in fingers, arms, and shoulders, with the capability to access items in confined or elevated spaces.

• Experience with lifting, bending, and prolonged standing or walking on hard surfaces.

• Comfortable and confident in elevated height work environment
