Position: School Psychologist

Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and compassionate School Psychologist to join our team in Lakewood, WA. As a School Psychologist, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students, helping to create a positive and inclusive school environment conducive to learning and growth.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate students' cognitive, academic, social, and emotional functioning.
  2. Interpret assessment results and provide insights into students' strengths, challenges, and learning needs to inform educational planning and interventions.
  3. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to develop and implement individualized plans to support students' academic and socio-emotional development.
  4. Provide counseling and intervention services to students experiencing academic, behavioral, or emotional difficulties, utilizing evidence-based strategies and interventions.
  5. Participate in the evaluation and development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring that appropriate goals, accommodations, and services are provided.
  6. Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) and develop behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students exhibiting challenging behaviors, in collaboration with school teams and parents.
  7. Serve as a resource and consultant to teachers, parents, and school staff on topics related to child development, learning, behavior management, and mental health.
  8. Promote positive school climate and social-emotional learning initiatives through classroom presentations, group activities, and school-wide programs.
  9. Collaborate with community agencies and mental health providers to coordinate services and support for students and families as needed.
  10. Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, interventions, and consultations in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

  1. Master's or doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited program.
  2. Valid state certification or licensure as a School Psychologist in Washington.
  3. Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings, preferably as a school psychologist or related role.
  4. Knowledge of assessment tools and techniques for evaluating cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional functioning.
  5. Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices related to the provision of services to students with disabilities.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  7. Empathy, compassion, and a commitment to promoting the well-being and success of all students.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced school environment.
  9. Dedication to ongoing professional development and staying current with research and best practices in the field of school psychology.
