SUMMARY:

The Packaging Design Engineer receives inquiries from Sales Team via Workorders created by Estimator regarding products and services. They will process requests for the design of cases, inserts and integration services as assigned and will utilize design & engineering skills / CAD based programs and Solid Works to create intricate designs for our production team to manufacture.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with clients to understand their packaging needs and requirements.
• Develop custom packaging designs that meet client specifications and budget constraints.
• Must also be able to utilize CAD software to design electronic integration systems, detailed packaging protypes and mock-ups.
• Conduct thorough testing and analysis of packaging designs to ensure they meet safety, durability and Mil Specifications.
• Interface with our Production and Quality Assurance Team to assist in product inspections and reviews to ensure design accuracy.
• Create designs which will adequately protect customer contents and that will meet all requested criteria.
• Receive inquiries from Estimator and Customer Service regarding product design, tolerances and MilSpec compliance.
• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for packaging design-related issues.
• Assist in the creation of BOM’s, cost quotes, freight quotes utilizing BOM costs, margin, NRE’s etc.
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and advancements in packaging technology.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
• Must be proficient with Auto Cad, Solid Works and Inventor.
• Proven experience in custom packaging design and development.
• In-depth knowledge of Company products and integration services offered.
• Ability to use design tools to identify customer needs and create marketable solutions on a timely basis.
• Must have excellent written and verbal skills.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in designing solutions utilizing 3D CAD, AutoCad, SolidWorks, etc.
• Ability to self-organize, plan and carry out packaging design functions
• Proficient in spreadsheet, word-processing, and presentation software.
• Ability to produce accurate and thorough reports on design activity.
• Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified by Vice President of Sales.
• Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
• Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
• Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
