Job Summary

The Controls Project Engineer will work with the Project Manager, Project Team, Customer, and Suppliers to deliver complete and safe controls electrical and fluid hardware design, software design, parts ordering, commissioning, and support buyoff.

 

Responsibilities

Professional content

  • Study, analyze, and discuss the assignment with project team members, suppliers and end customer;
  • Knowledge of system architecture concepts;
    • Power distribution
    • Grounding concepts (FE/PE)
  • Making energy consumption calculations;
  • Making cable and electrical cabinet heat calculations;
  • Address assignment (I/O, IP, Safety);
  • Performance Level Required Verification (Sistema)
  • Setting up system architecture concepts;
  • Programming and commissioning of (safety) PLCs, Servo systems, safety equipment based on process input, risk analysis, customer specifications;
  • Determine plant/machinery safety by the safety matrix;
  • Ensuring accuracy of Bills of Material and confirm ordering and delivery of components and services with purchasing and project management
  • Provide training to customer staff;
  • Solve technical problems throughout the project including engineering problems that occur at the customer site;
  • Making (hours) estimates;
  • Taking care of all technical project information involves own discipline belonging to the technical construction file and customer acceptance;
  • Expert review of quotes, progress and deliverables as well as record of agreements made from suppliers.
  • Delivery of machines within cycle time according to cycle time diagrams, according to Project Engineer;
  • Component selection for Electrical
  • Review of third-party designs;
  • Monitor the content of the project, (what was sold according to what specifications);
  • Identify additional training needs to the management

 

Project management and guidance

  • Monitor and report progress and status of project critical deliverables to project team members;
  • Provide input for planning;
  • Reporting and resolution of roadblocks to project success;
  • Regular follow up with assigned suppliers for Robot and PLC Programming, Electrical Hardware Design, Pneumatic and Water Circuit Design

 

Knowledge Required

  • Experience with Siemens and/or Rockwell software packages and tools;
  • Various PLC, HMI and data bus systems;
  • Electrical Components up to 600VAC
  • Performance Level Required (Sistema) Methodologies Verification
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatics;
  • Customer Specifications
  • Legal directives (CE/UL) and standards;
  • Project control tools;
  • Communication English (Verbal and Written);
  • Communication techniques and social skills;
  • Problem analysis and resolution techniques;
  • Project management and follow-up in the field of engineering, status and quality.

 

 

Training/Education

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical field.  Experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Willingness to travel and work on-site at home and abroad for extended periods to perform work with suppliers and customers.

 

Travel up to 30%, but much of it can be local. International travel may be required.
