We are seeking a highly motivated Operations Associate who thrives in the startup environment to support Elegen's growth and our commercialized products. As part of the Operations team, your primary responsibilities include all things related to supply chain, logistics, with some support for facilities, lab operations, and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S).

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated self-starter looking to utilize their supply chain & logistics expertise to support all of Elegen's commercialized products and R&D efforts at a uniquely innovative, rapidly moving, high-impact start-up. In addition to supply chain & logistics, you will support the overall Operations functions aforementioned. You will help us establish a strong culture of mutual respect, integrity, and collaboration while working alongside some of Silicon Valley's best scientists and engineers.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supply Chain & Logistics:
    • Maintain stocks and order stocked inventory materials for the Production team responsible for synthesizing the company's commercial products.
    • Maintain stocks and order stocked inventory materials for all R&D-related efforts.
    • Actively maintain and manage the company's Stocked Inventory Master List.
    • Ability to build out inventory management functions within Netsuite (ERP) systems.
    • Actively track lots and expiry dates for all critical reagents used in Production Manufacturing and R&D teams.
    • Complete weekly cycle counts for stocked inventory materials for both Production Manufacturing and R&D teams, ensuring no stock-outs for business continuity.
    • Strong familiarity with common plastics (consumables) and reagents used within the Life Sciences industry and could effectively source alternatives as needed.
    • Ability to forecast critical stocked materials used in Production Manufacturing and R&D, which include the scheduling of standing orders with external supply vendors (including optimal price negotiation).
    • Receive shipments (Purchase Orders) via Point Purchasing procurement system, ensuring three-way matching compliance with Accounts Payable processes.
    • Partner with Finance & Accounting and external supply vendors to resolve any discrepancies related to inventory orders.
    • Partner with Finance & Accounting to properly fulfill or resolve any discrepancies with the order fulfillment of outbound customer shipments via NetSuite (ERP System).
    • Partner with the Production Manufacturing team to schedule FedEx pickups/ drop-offs for customer outbound shipments, including packing of all outbound shipments.
    • Generate Customer Shipping Manifests and FedEx Shipping Labels for all outbound customer shipments.
    • Maintain stocks and order shipping and packing supplies as needed.
    • Partner with internal Sales team regarding customer package-related issues or requests.
  • Facilities, Lab Operations, & EHS (Environmental Health & Safety):
    • Partner with core team operations managers to support functions in these pillars, ensuring operational efficiencies and overall business continuity.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of Life Sciences and inventory management experience required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of shipping and receiving experience required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of customer service experience required (no preference with industry type).
  • Strong understanding of commonly used plastics and reagents in the Life Sciences industry required.
  • Ability to lift 30-50 lbs. regularly.
  • Experience with NetSuite (ERP System) and inventory management within that system is required.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with various external Life Sciences supply vendors.
  • Experience with Point Purchasing (Procurement System) or comparable systems.
  • Ability to multitask, enjoys the start-up environment (being the jack/ jill of all trades). Able to effectively function and thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment (highly adaptable).
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize overall workload, resourceful/ problem solver, and exudes strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work at (3) different facilities for the interim.
  • Willingness to work on Saturdays and/or holidays for Shipping coverage.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Life Sciences highly preferred.
  • Experience in a warehouse setting.
  • Strong knowledge of various shipping couriers (e.g. FedEx, DHL, World Courier, etc.).
  • Knowledge of EH&S practices and guidelines preferred.
  • Knowledge of various chemicals used in standard Chemistry labs preferred but not required.

Salary and Benefits:

The annual base salary compensation for this role, if based in California is: $73,000 - $113,000. Compensation may be different in other locations. Final compensation also includes bonus, equity and benefits. Specific offer packages are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location.
