Job Description
Purpose and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Shelter Manager, the Shelter Support Coordinator will collaborate with the entire Shelter Team to manage daily shelter operations, maintain the properties, and support clients.
Job Duties
- Maintain a presentable and welcoming house: clean common areas, make minor repairs, conduct safety checks, maintain the grounds and playgrounds, and clean and prepare rooms when clients vacate.
- Collect, organize, maintain, and distribute donations as needed from various locations.
- Shop for groceries on a weekly basis.
- Manage the house budget, list of contractors, and logs of appliance purchases and maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate and facilitate appointments with outside vendors for household upkeep, maintenance and improvement projects.
- Collaborate in creating a culture of empowerment with clients and maintain ongoing communication of important incidents involving residents to shelter staff.
- Participate and assist with scheduling of house meetings and reinforcing boundaries with clients in relation to the shelter agreements.
- Assist with clients entries and exits, as well as provide shelter tours to clients and staff.
- Provide client transportation.
- Provide child care for clients when participating in various Lumina Alliance services.
- Be available to assist with shelter clients crisis counseling and crisis line coverage during business hours.
- Participate in regular all-staff meetings and other Lumina Alliance meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Fluency in English is required; additional fluency in Spanish highly preferred.
- Experience working in an environment that prioritizes trauma informed interaction and the empowerment model
- Experience with MS Office and GSuite.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time; ability to climb stairs and to lift, pull, push, carry furniture; ability to lift at least 50 lbs frequently.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity to client needs.

Requirements
- Must satisfactorily pass a Live Scan background check, paid for by employer.
- Completion of Lumina Alliance’s 65-hr California State Certified Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Crisis Counselor Training (provided as on-the-job training).
- Must have reliable transportation.
Position Title: Shelter Coordinator

Hours: 40/week
Location: San Luis Obispo County
Salary: $19.00/hr, bilingual differential if applicable
