Software Test Engineer

We are looking for a smart, mid-level software tester, with good self-discipline, able to work effectively from home. This position is part of a remote team of skilled engineers supporting websites and web apps for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Must be comfortable working in a remote-team environment via Teams/Zoom and other distributed-staffing coordination tools. Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Agile development is a plus.

This is a Virginia-based full-time position. Candidate should be a US Citizen and must be a resident of Virginia (anywhere within the state). Please note that the position requires a Background Investigation on behalf of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Working environment (laptop, applications, etc.) are provided by the US Federal Government.

Responsibilities:

• Devise and implement test strategies that adequately assess all software aspects
• Investigate and recreate reported defects
• Work with other engineers to troubleshoot and resolve coding issues
• Track and document all testing defects and resolutions
• Participate in the design and development for test automation and support

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a STEM field
• 2-5 years experience in software quality assurance, especially in web and mobile application testing.
• Skilled in API testing using Postman and Rest Assured for validating RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with Agile process (these projects use an Agile methodology), GitHUB, JIRA
• Strong root-cause analysis skills
• Helpful, but not required: Experience with Selenium, JDBC, APPIUM, Cucumber/Gherkin BDD, and other web dev coordination tools
