The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) is a global Jewish human rights organization that confronts anti-Semitism, hate, stands with Israel, defends the safety of Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust for future generations through its advocacy and education programs, investigations, research, reporting, media, films and museums.  Headquartered in Los Angeles the SWC has an international footprint with offices in New York, Chicago, Miami, Toronto, Paris, Berlin, Jerusalem and Buenos Aires is an accredited Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) at the United Nations, UNESCO, the Organization of American States, the Latin American Parliament, and the Council of Europe and maintains relationships with the highest levels of governments throughout the world.  The Museum of Tolerance Los Angeles, founded in 1993, is the educational arm of the SWC.  Moriah Films is the Center’s two-time Academy Award®-winning film division and the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem is scheduled to open in early 2025.


About the role:


The Fleet Manager, Mobile Museums of Tolerance (MMOT) will work in consultation with MOTLA staff and regional offices to ensure the production, build-out, timing for delivery, registration, and completion pursuant to our agreement with MRA including the proper maintenance, care, upkeep while locating secure locations to warehouse the fleet of MMOT buses nationwide.

 

About you:

 

You are passionate about human rights injustices, community and educational engagement, diversity, inclusion, and Holocaust education.

 

This position oversees all aspects of the fleet of MMOT buses to ensure they are operating effectively and efficiently and reports to the National Director, Field Programs and coordinate with the regional education staff.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Work closely with Legal and other SWA departments as well as the point of contact for MRA (company that builds and maintains the buses).
  • Create and maintain a budget for all bus operations.
  • Create and maintain a schedule for maintenance and arrange for repairs of all buses.
  • Maintain the technology for the buses and ensure consistency across the entire fleet including projectors, software, learning and interactive devices, computers, etc.
  • Coordinate with the development of new buses and ensure compliance with contracts and grants.

 

Experiences and Skills:


  • 5 years of operations management experience within the transportation industry, including automobile, bus, train, plane, boat, etc.
  • Mechanical engineering experience a plus
  • Ability to manage budgets.
  • Ability to work independently as well as provide supporting role on a team.
  • High degree of flexibility, can adapt easily to changing environment and tasks.
  • Ability to undertake multiple tasks and determine the level of priority.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized.
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Personality profile to fit into a safe, inclusive, open and collaborative culture that requires teamwork and significant interaction with employees at all levels.
