TEACHING ARTIST in Filmmaking
THE POSITION
Soul2Soulz is committed to amplifying student voices through film to strengthen the community. Our programming centers on the Social Emotional Learning pillars utilizing issue-based filmmaking to develop student competency. The Teaching Artist with have experience in one or more various aspects of Filmmaking. Camera, scriptwriting, acting, producing, editing, lighting, sound, additional film crew duties, and will work on several aspects of the program including, group facilitation, administrative tasks, and lesson planning. This person will be required to work in person at school sites. Local NYC filmmaking professionals, recent filmmaking college graduates, and BIPOC candidates are encouraged to apply.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Facilitation of middle and high school student groups
• Create lesson plans
• Execute film-based lesson plans
• Film productions – film student projects with students
• Editing student film projects with students
• Camera
• Acting
• Lighting
• Sound
• Producing
• Scriptwriting
• Support with homework help, academic enrichment, education/career counseling
Schedule
- Participate in all Soul2Soulz Professional Development M,W, F 11am-4pm and T, Th 4pm-8pm plus 2 hours admin
- 7 - 8 week project – April 29th – June 21
- Schedule may be subject to change

HOW TO APPLY

- Background check is also required as we are working with youth
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Minimum two years experience working with youth, and young adults
Credits in educational classes or teaching artist experience are a plus but not required.
Minimum two years experience in filmmaking, directing, cinematography, production, or comparable. Editing experience is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, with demonstrated project management and organizational skills
Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced, evolving work environment; ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a time-constrained environment
Strong interpersonal skills. Strong ability to work with confidential information
Ability to understand and work with standard office software, including Microsoft Office Suite, and G-Suite
Experienced with working on DSLR and Blackmagic Camera (willing to learn)
HOURLY RATE
$20 to $25 an hour
25 hours a week
