Position Title: Doctor of Physical Therapy
Job Summary: As a Doctor of Physical Therapy in a post-acute neurorehabilitation setting, your primary responsibility is to assess, diagnose, and provide treatment to patients with neurological conditions, including but not limited to stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and neurodegenerative diseases. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation plans tailored to each patient's specific needs and goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and functional abilities, analyzing data from medical records, interviews, and standardized assessments.
Interpret assessment findings and develop individualized treatment plans that address patients' impairments, functional limitations, and goals.
Provide direct physical therapy interventions, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, neuromuscular reeducation, gait training, balance training, and modalities as appropriate.
Re-evaluate patients' progress and modify treatment plans accordingly, ensuring ongoing improvement and adjustment of goals.
Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate interprofessional care and achieve optimum outcomes.
Educate patients and their families on the treatment plan, expected outcomes, and techniques for maximizing functional independence at home and in the community.
Document patient evaluations, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in accordance with regulatory and facility standards.
Stay up-to-date with advancements in neurological rehabilitation research and evidence-based practice, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and cutting-edge care.
Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and continuing education programs to enhance knowledge, share experiences, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the rehabilitation program.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program.
Current and unrestricted state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure as a physical therapist.
Specialization or experience in neurorehabilitation is preferred.
Strong knowledge of neurological conditions and their impact on physical function.
Excellent clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities.
Proficient in conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and measuring treatment outcomes.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
