POSITION TITLE: Accounting Clerk FLSA: Non-Exempt
SUPERVISOR: Director of Finance Job Code: NA
SALARY RANGE: $26.92-$28.90 (Part Time)

OVERVIEW:

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for all Mental Health and assigned billing, data entry and maintenance of patient billings and other accounting duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
  1. Three (3) years accounting experience; experience with billing counties for mental health and related services.
  2. A.A. degree, 3 plus years’ experience as an Accounting Clerk, preferably in the non-profit industry.
  3. Must be extremely hands-on and knowledgeable of basic accounting and billing concepts.
  4. Knowledge of and competence in using Microsoft Software.
  5. Knowledge and familiarity with accounting software programs.
  6. Solid analytical ability
  7. Ability to work well under pressure.
  8. Must be eligible to work in the US, and pass a fingerprint background clearance

Preferred
  1. Bachelors degree desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

  1. Enter all required mental health client data and billing information into the County billing systems. Ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  2. Prepare billing reports for out of county mental health.
  3. Complete various county billing forms
  4. Collect and enter client’s registration. Keep patient financial information files current.
  5. Maintain current insurance eligibility
  6. Reconcile system data to Contractor Monthly Claim Report.
  7. Process void and replacement services
  8. Maintain productivity reporting.
  9. Create and maintain Excel reports as requested.
  10. Participate in agency-wide quality improvement efforts.
  11. Assist with collections
  12. Other/Special Projects – Assist in other duties and special projects as needed

  6. Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  7. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  8. Employee may be required to make or receive physical contact with clients and residents, such as in the process of delivering First Aid/CPR or de-escalation interventions.
  9. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  10. Must have CPR and First Aid certificate within 10 days of start date and maintain a current certificate with Human Resources.
  11. Must clear a Department of Justice background check including fingerprinting before start date and maintain clearance.
  12. Must be able to work in a DSS Community Care Licensed Facility.
  13. Must clear a health screening, including TB before start date and maintain clearance.
  14. Must have a car, valid California Driver License and be able to drive, have a clean driving record and maintain a clean driving record.
  15. Meet and maintain the minimum vehicle liability and property insurance limits (to be insured by our insurance carrier for using vehicle for business purposes such as transportation of residents or reimbursement of business-related mileage expenses).
