Job Description
Job Summary
The Director of Facilities & Support Services is responsible for all facilities and engineering functions and projects undertaken by the organization. This position is also responsible for managing the supervisors in the departments of Safety, Security and Environmental Services. The Director of Facilities and Support Services will plan and coordinate the fire, safety, and security operations of the organization as part of their regular duties.
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (Masters Preferred) in a field that provides a strong foundation for success in this role. This would include Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Building Construction, Safety and Security or other similar fields of professional study.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or certification preferred, or 10 years of appropriate experience at a level to provide competence.
Experience
- A minimum of 10 years overseeing the plan, design, and supervision of the construction projects preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Ten (10) years of related work experience including performance improvement, safety, security operations and regulatory compliance in a hospital setting are preferred.
- Experience with managing and preparing the organization to be compliant with NFPA and OSHA standards.
- Experience with TJC and state licensure bodies and their respective standards.
- Experience with CapEx budgets and budgeting processes.
- Experience with managing capital projects from inception through completion and reporting the project progress to the COO.
- Candidates are preferred to have a strong electrical and mechanical background in maintenance operations of commercial or hospital facilities.
- General knowledge of all construction phases and local building and safety codes.
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, air conditioning, and kitchen equipment.
- Possess a strong knowledge and operational skills with Life Safety systems, wet and dry, fire pumps, and controls.
- Knowledge of building management systems and work order software.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent PC skills (Excel, Word) and internet online reporting; aptitude for preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing stairs, kneeling, and lifting to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work verified shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Must have the ability to function optimally in a stressful environment, and the ability to remain calm in emotionally charged situations.
