JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Behavioral Health (BH) Clinical Manager, the individual in this position is responsible for performing mental health treatment services, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and coordinating patient care with appropriate staff. This person is also responsible for providing clinical supervision and support to Behavioral Health staff, conducting quality improvement projects, and developing, implementing, and enforcing standards and protocols in clinical practices. Traveling to different clinic sites is required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Clinical
1. Perform comprehensive mental health treatment services to clients of all ages, including intake evaluations, assessments, individualized treatment plans, crisis intervention, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, treatment planning, case management, and outreach.
2. Provide psychotherapy and substance abuse treatment and services to primary adults and adolescents and children as needed.
3. Crisis intervention may include walk-in non-registered patients as well as AHS patients.
4. Coordinate care with psychiatrists, behavioral health services manager, medical social worker, provider staff, perinatal program manager, care coordinator, specialty mental health, and other AHS staff as needed.
5. Provide consultation for other AHS staff in providing psychosocial assessments as appropriate, including warm handoff.
6. Lead/coordinate/participate in huddles, peer consultation, and other patient care meetings.
7. Work with providers in providing consultations regarding behavioral modification techniques etc.
8. Maintain patient records, document services provided, and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of service delivery.
9. Update and maintain a behavioral health database.
10. Ensure and monitor all operations, procedures, interventions, and documentation to comply with the agency, state, and county guidelines, and quality assurance standards.
11. Participate in behavioral health department meetings and other agency-mandated meetings.
12. Liaison with outside agencies including but not limited to psychiatric/counseling institutions, social service agencies, or other mental health facilities to coordinate patient care for AHS patients.
13. Participate as an active member of the community mental health treatment team.
14. Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Direct supervision of a department involving responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, quality of patient care, and personnel.
2. Conducts supervisory/managerial responsibilities by the organization's policies and applicable laws including interviewing and hiring employees; planning, assigning, scheduling, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing and resolving complaints; and following the Board of Behavioral Sciences laws, ethics, and requirements.
3. Provide weekly individual/group clinical supervision to assigned staff
4. Clinical supervision encompasses all aspects of behavioral health services: intake/assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment interventions, charting procedures, case management, consultation, and termination process/case closing procedures.
5. Train supervisees on the clinical workflow in the electronic health record (EHR) system and help the supervisees troubleshoot any problems in navigating the EHR system, conducting therapy and care coordination services electronically, and addressing clinic issues.
6. Perform chart reviews to monitor clinical interventions and documentation of services, to ensure quality and appropriateness of services, including risk management.
7. Coordinates the assignment and triage of cases, conducts staff meetings and provides clinical training.
8. Answer the Warm Hand-Off (WHO) phoneline to manage client crises and urgent client care needs for that day.
9. Collaborate with BH Operations staff to improve department protocols, policies, EHR workflows, and future program development.
10. Function as a professional role model for staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Licensed mental health professional, such as licensed clinical social worker
2. One year of clinical supervision counseling therapy setting or equivalent experience
3. Completed a 15-hour course on clinical supervision as required by the Board of Behavioral Sciences within a year of hire
4. Experience with brief and long-term psychotherapy
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
1. Possess a valid California professional LCSW license
