Starting Pay: $23.07/hour plus incentives

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Originates first mortgage loans, promotes the Credit Union and its lending services to the real estate community. Serve the communities financial needs through home loan counseling, real estate agent education meetings and participating in and promoting the Credit Union and realtor community activities.
 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Involvement within the mortgage community of FFCU market area. Promote and grow relationships between the Credit Union, realtors, and other mortgage professionals.
  • Conduct loan interviews with members to complete residential loan application for First Mortgages. Informs members of the Credit Union’s underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations.
  • Have and maintain a knowledge of all mortgage products offered by the Credit Union and its investors.
  • Completes each loan application and all pre-processing functions to include but not limited to, obtaining all necessary documentation from prospective borrowers as determined by secondary market and credit union underwriting guidelines.
  • Proposes and reviews various loan options with prospective borrowers. Educates prospective borrowers on what steps they need to take to be a qualified borrower.
  • Calculate closing costs and provide Loan Estimate of closing costs to member within 3 days of initial application.
  • Understand and implement regulatory timing requirements for disclosures, documents, and decisions on all loans.
  • Keep abreast of current secondary market rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure all files are GSE compliant.
  • Communicates with borrowers on approvals, denials, additional documentation required.
  • Actively communicates with borrowers, realtors, and underwriters on the status of loan and collateral value and issues.
  • Actively work with secondary market correspondent(s) for sale of loans.
  • May need to work with PMI providers for approval.
  • Price loan products to expected profitability and market competitiveness.
  • Periodic training for non-mortgage staff within FFCU.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Federal licensing through the NMLS Registry (including a background check) is required.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and develop partnering relationships within the community.
  • Someone with experience in lending preferred, including secondary market, capability of high production and ability to work independently in a regulated environment.
  • Position Knowledge:  The individual is required to have the skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
  • Problem Solving: The individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Interpersonal Skills:  The individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others’ ideas, and exhibits willingness to try new things.
  • Oral Communication: The individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. The individual maintains on-going communication with Department Manager concerning activities of the department as well as needs or problems and keeps him/her informed of all pertinent problem’s irregularities, new developments, changes, and other valuable information.
  • Written Communication:  The individual edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively and can read and interpret written information.
  • Planning/Organizing:  The individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
  • Quality Control: The individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Dependability:   The individual is consistently at work and on time (except for those cases protected by law which are outlined in the employee guide), follows instruction, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance.
  • Observes Policy/Procedures:  The individual sets an example in observing (following) Credit Union policy and applicable standard operating procedures, as well as those in the employee guide.
  • Must be bondable.
