Job Description

About Us:

Umpqua Bank is a publicly traded financial holdings company, headquartered in the Pacific Northwest with 6,000+ employees, which offers banking services to customers throughout the nation. It's an especially exciting time to join our team as, following the recent merger with Columbia Bank, we have grown to become a leading western-based regional bank with more than $50B in assets under management and an unwavering commitment to our associates, our customers, and our communities. We create a great place to work by offering a special brand of relationship banking and by providing a culture where associates thrive. Associates who embody our core values fit in well here and we are eager to meet candidates who demonstrate behaviors that align with Trust, Ownership, Growth, Empathy, Teamwork, Heart, Enjoyment, and Relationships.

About the Internship Program:

An Internship at Umpqua Bank is more than a summer job, it's an experience that includes:

Cohort Orientation: Interns will start on the same day in cohorts when academic schedules allow.

Project-based Assignment: Interns are assigned one specific assignment that serves as an extension of the classroom experience, contributes value to the Bank, and provides real-world work experience.

Biweekly Networking: Interns gather weekly for peer networking, collaboration, and to share progress updates on their projects.

Professional Development: Interns are provided with professional development opportunities.

Field Trip: Interns participate in a group field trip to learn about and experience our company operations.

Day of Service: Interns are immersed into our culture of giving back and serving local communities through volunteerism with one of our non-profit partners.

Lunch with Executive Leadership: Interns gather for lunch with the Executive Leadership Team and have the opportunity for casual conversations and some Q A.

Project Presentations: Each Intern will present an overview of their experience and accomplishments to a group of leaders at the end of the program.

What You will Do:

The intern will utilize an established list of highest revenue generating products, such as Integrated Payment, Integrated Receivables, lockbox, etc. to develop case studies with actual clients, using client data that shows the return on investment (ROI) the solution achieved. The intern will partner with appropriate leaders to gain client permission, interview clients, and then create case studies to be published for usage in requests for proposals (RFPs), sales deals, webinars, trade events, etc.

What You Will Learn:

The intern will learn Treasury Management Solutions and working capital, along with ROI of these solutions. They will also learn how to approach clients in the market, how to publish client facing documentation and marketing material, and how to work directly with companies to investigate ROI, interview and engage personally with companies and clients, and how to partner for success.

About You:

Qualified candidates will be actively enrolled at a university pursuing a degree in Business Administration, or Marketing, or Finance with a strong desire to create and write client facing marketing content. They should have excellent communication skills, and with database experience in the Microsoft suite of products. The selected Intern will be scheduled to work 40 hours weekly for 13 weeks beginning in May or June depending upon their availability and academic schedule and will work on-site daily at one of our hubs throughout California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, or Washington; preferably in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

Our Benefits:

The pay rate for this role is $20.00 per hour. Interns are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k)-retirement savings plan and are entitled to paid sick time and holiday pay.
