Job Description

JOB TITLE: Quality Assurance Inspector II (Plastics)

REPORTS TO: Quality Assurance Manager

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

JOB STATUS: Full Time

SHIFT: Monday – Thursday, 06:00 – 16:30

WAGE: $20.21 - $34.22 hourly (5610N/5600N)

JOB Purpose:

To determine whether product conforms to the engineering definition. This role works in support of one or more production departments to plan verification activities for product and processes performed internally and externally.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow the company’s Quality Management System and encourage others to do the same.
  • Uphold the Tool Gauge fundamentals in all aspects of job performance.
  • The primary job responsibility is to inspect product currently in production at the machine.
  • Utilize blueprint reading and specification interpretation skills to perform required inspections.
  • Use experience and judgment to select appropriate and efficient inspection and measurement techniques to perform:
    • o First part buy-off and in-process inspection of manufactured details and assemblies.
    • o Final inspection and document review
  • Document non-conformances for MRB in ERP system.
  • Control of Documents, External and Internal
  • Assist with Internal Quality Audits
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills. Utilize all time saving methods personally developed or prescribed, by management when applicable.
  • Show concerted effort to improve knowledge and grow with the company's technology.
  • Follow the company's Quality Management System and guide others to do the same.
  • Work well with others and follow directions in a team environment under project leaders or supervisors.
  • Develop inspection procedures and methods, make setups, determine the deviation from blueprint or standard, and report results.
  • Assist less experienced employees as required.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KnowLedge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Have a good drawing interpretation and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand Customers Specifications
  • Ability to read & understand aerospace drawings for plastic parts
  • Ability to inspect molded parts utilizing conventional machine shop inspection tools
  • Understanding of GDT
  • Understanding of AS9102 FAIR
  • Be highly detail oriented with a strong background in Aerospace Manufacturing and Quality Assurance
  • Have good communication, reading, reporting, and computers skills in MS Office (using Word, Excel, and Outlook).

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • · Training and experience with programming and running coordinate measurement systems (CMM Manager with and without CAD models)
  • · Understanding of Boeing’s EID system to find essential information.
  • · Training and experience in Internal Quality Auditing.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School education (or equivalent) with a strong mathematical background required. Undergraduate (associate) degree or higher preferred.
  • Previous experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment is required.
  • Previous experience in a quality or inspection role is required.
  • Previous experience with ERP/MRP software is preferred.
