Full-time position is available at the Postdoctoral Fellow level to join a new cell manufacturing program.

FUNCTION OF JOB

Under direct supervision from a principal investigator, perform a variety of moderately complex and generally standardized physical, chemical, or biological tests with procedures and techniques previously outlined by established protocols and other scientific data. Provide direction and guidance to other members of lab team.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in biomedical engineering or related field, 1-2 years of research experience in the area of biomedical devices and biosensors.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is mandatory. 
  • Applicant will be responsible for coordinating and conducting experiments as well as anticipating and solving technical problems.
  • Must possess good communication skills and a strong ability to work well with others as part of a team, as well as an ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
  • Note: This position relies on grant funding which may limit the duration of the job. Specific timeframes vary based on the type and length of the grant and will be discussed during the interview.

CHARACTERISTIC WORK

  1. Development of biomedical devices/equipment using mechanical, electrical parameters, and/or sound waves. 
  2. Development and integration of biosensors and device automatization.  
  3. Code development and integration with computer interfaces.
  4. Select the appropriate experimental format from established standard formats; prepare charts, graphs, and reports from data obtained. Prepare manuscripts detailing the findings of the experiments, under the guidance of the PI. 
  5. Train and demonstrate to graduate students, medical students, and other lab personnel, a variety of procedures. 
  6. Review scientific journals, abstracts, and other publications for information applicable to research projects, and devise experiments. 
  7. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. 

Duties include:

  • Executing planned experiments as directed.
  • Maintaining supplies and equipment needed to conduct daily work plan.
  • Reporting progress and results to PI in a timely and coherent fashion.
  • Devising alternate approaches, should they be necessary.
  • Analyzing data and determining next logical steps in experimental plan to answer desired questions.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND GIVEN

Oral and/or written instructions are received from supervisor. Postdoctoral fellow is expected to be independent in area of expertise and to provide direction and guidance to other lab members.
