What you'll do:

• Leads the Sam's Club Fresh Quality team in a Distribution Center (DC) with emphasis on providing the best possible quality for all fresh commodities using an end-to-end Quality Management strategy.
• Directs training of new Fresh Quality team members in Sam's Ways of Working and Quality Management techniques.
• Oversees quality, freshness, and food safety of fresh grocery products in a distribution center as they flow from suppliers through distribution centers to clubs.
• Supervises/Performs inspections of inbound fresh produce & floral, poultry, meat, and seafood for adherence to Sam's Club specifications by fresh team members.
• Drives companywide initiatives to control costs and deliver high quality products to Sam's Club members.
• Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
• Oversees Seafood Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan
• Oversees Sam's fruit ripening program daily.
• Oversees cold chain compliance within the distribution center to ensure products are kept at proper temperature.
• Provides guidance to DC management and personnel in matters that affect product quality.
• Provides communication on fresh product quality to the merchant group and other relevant stakeholders to improve the quality of perishable products.
• Interfaces with the vendor community regarding quality of products being received into Sam's Club Distribution Centers and may make suggestions on quality improvement.
• Will visit suppliers and clubs to check quality of our products and current supply conditions.
• May liaise with Walmart QC inspection team regarding quality inspections in some DC's.

*Hours-3am to 11am or 12pm*

*Some travel required (3-4 days a month)*

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• 5 year's retail produce inspection experience or USDA inspection experience.
• 2-3 years' experience in vendor management, food safety or a related field.
• 5 years' experience of poultry or meat industry experience, preferably quality related.
• 2 years' experience using basic Microsoft Office functionality (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook).
• 5 years fruit ripening experience.
• 10 years' experience in agricultural quality control, agronomy, food retail management, or related field.

Minimum Qualifications

• 6 years supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Food Science, or related field and 2 years' experience in agricultural quality control, agronomy, food retail management, or related field OR 6 years' experience in agricultural quality control, agronomy, food retail management, or related field.
