Job Title: Gospel Service Music Director.

Based at: Langley AFB, VA.

JobSummary:

Sanford Federal, Inc. is looking for a qualified Gospel Service Music Director to direct all aspects of music ministry associated with the Langley Protestant Gospel Worship Service in conjunction with the Deputy Wing Chaplain or designee.

Requirements:

HOURS/UNIT OF WORK:

Candidate special services, and respective rehearsals for each service will be provided during the weekly Sunday 11:00 Gospel Worship Service.

Each event below shall be billed as one unit for a total of 124 units.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Candidate shall perform for all regularly scheduled Gospel Services, choir rehearsals, and special services as determined by the Wing Chaplain. Special services will include the annual Christmas Eve candlelight service, combined worship services, funerals, and other holiday services.

Candidate shall coordinate with other service music directors, musicians, and chaplains as necessary. Rehearsal times will be coordinated with the Lead Faith Group Chaplain.

Candidate shall follow 633 ABW/HC operating instructions for use and care of buildings and equipment.

The Candidate is responsible for paying any Social Security payments, Federal or local income taxes, and State unemployment insurance premiums for themselves, as well as for any individual employed or subcontracted by them to provide services under this contract.

CANDIDATE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Candidate shall work closely with other choir directors, musicians, and chaplains to maintain an up-to-date music library.

Prepare/conduct rehearsals for instrumentalists and singers for each service.

Lead congregational and choral singing and provide instrumental accompaniment for all Gospel services and special services as determined by the Wing Chaplain.

Ensure security, proper use, and cleanliness of all facilities and equipment utilized in conjunction with duties and programs of the Gospel choir.

Maintain communication with choir members, instrumentalists, and the Gospel service lead chaplain.

Demonstrate integrity through a moral, upright lifestyle consistent with Christian church teachings.

Specialized training to enhance job skills is authorized for this position contingent upon availability of funds and approval of the Deputy Wing Chaplain or designee.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER SIGNIFICANT QUALIFICATIONS:

The ability to read music and lead a choir and congregation, while providing accompaniment on piano or organ/keyboard.

Must have Gospel choir experience and be familiar with the flow of Gospel Service worship

Must provide a letter of recommendation from an ordained clergy person and two additional letters or recommendation attesting to the applicant's Christian character.

Must provide a resume that includes a minimum of five years' experience playing the piano and organ or keyboard.

Must be able to play and lead music from various Christian traditions including traditional, contemporary, and praise and worship.

Must have a minimum of two years' experience directing church choirs in traditional hymns, Gospel, and current contemporary Christian music.

Must have the ability to perform in front of groups of any size.

Candidate will submit to a proficiency demonstration for select Langley Chapel staff members.
