Hours: Various hours nights and weekends based on the needs of the facility
Pay Rate: Starting at $22.00

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation Facilities, handle the overall security needs of the Elk Grove Park District, as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Work with building staff in matters of security to provide a safe environment.
Deescalate potential contentious issues between customers and/or staff.
Enforce facility rules and regulations.
Assist in providing first aid to injured patrons. Assist with emergency procedures, i.e. Tornado and Fire evacuation.
Check unoccupied rooms to ensure that they are secure and locked.
Serve as a visual presence to deter criminal behavior before it happens.
Provide security walk-through inspections inside and outside the facility at least once an hour.
Assist with room set-ups, as needed.
Securing of the interior and exterior doors within assigned facilities.
Assist other staff in providing customer service; including answering patrons' questions and directing them to programs throughout the facility.
Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

General work area is indoors, in a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting.
Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
Works in a wide range of weather conditions which can include cold, rain, and extreme heat.
Occasional exposure to natural and potentially extreme weather conditions while supervising employees or attending job related activities at locations away from the office.
Must work closely with co-workers.
Must work around the general population.
Physical agility to maintain mobility from site to site.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Subject to modified/flexible work schedule including nights and weekends.
Able to work under stressful situations when First Aid or CPR is required, including the ability to respond quickly and accurately to any and all emergencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.
Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and/or CERT Basic Training is preferred.
Current or retired police officers in good standing are preferred.
Must have experience with active surveillance and/or supervision where rule enforcement was required in a previous professional setting.
