Departmental faculty expertise is centered on infectious diseases of livestock and wildlife. The department has expansive animal facilities including a newly commissioned, Tier 1 certified BSL-3 containment facility with small animal housing. Large animal housing facilities are available on a BSL-2 level. The Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory, an AAVLD accredited laboratory, is also housed within the department.
