CNC Machinist/Entry Level Programmer

Skookum Aerospace Manufacturing is seeking an experienced machinist who is looking to learn CNC Programming. This individual will learn to use Cad / Cam software to create and manage CNC toolpaths for the manufacture of aerospace components.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Create CAD/CAM databases, CAD models and CAM process models.
• Create CNC programs for 3, 4 & 5-Axis machine tools and provide technical support to facility personnel.
• Properly selects tooling and tool paths for specific machine capabilities; provides most efficient order and flow of cutting procedures within each operation to satisfy dimensional, surface-finish and time requirements.
• Analyze and verify dimensional results of prove-outs and effectively correct discrepancies.
• Ensure Production will have methods to consistently manufacture parts to established labor and quality standards.
• Modifies existing parts programs for efficiency.
• Provide manufacturing method to planning department.
• Assist development of part estimates such that accurate and timely bidding packages for customer RFQ's are created.
• Assists in the preparation of Bills of Material (BOM).
• Support manufacturing with complex setups and various machining operations as required.
• Represents a professional, technologically competent point-of-contact (POC) to external customer perception.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in Aerospace or Commercial Manufacturing is required.
• Associates Degree preferred.
• Exceptional measuring and blueprint-reading ability.
• Understands geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
• Can read CAD drawings/solid models for program development that meets customer requirements.
• Knowledge of proper cutting speeds and feeds based on tool and material.
• Sufficient knowledge of traditional and nontraditional machining.
• Understands English and Metric measurement systems and ability to convert both.
• Experience with 4 & 5-Axis machines on hard metals is preferred.

Requirements:

• A valid state driver's license preferred.
• Must be either a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (In order to comply with U.S. government regulations as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20), or a "protected individual" as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
• A pre-employment drug screen is required.
