The Child Care Business Coach creates and facilitates a network of small business owners in the child care industry, participating in a statewide shared services business project. This position provides individual business coaching, assistance in business plan development and goal setting, and leads business trainings for early childhood educators. This position provides support to child care providers in learning to use child care management software, and builds relationships with the provider community in order to grow participation in the shared services project.
Description of Essential Functions

Shared Services Support (80% of Time)
  1. This Position collaborates with the Oregon Child Care Alliance (OCCA) and Care Connections staff to enroll and support local Early Care and Education small businesses and encourage participation in the OCCA business resources support programs.
  2. Will assist small businesses with developing tools for success such as programs to gain business acumen, enhance business practices, knowledge, and skills on how to manage their business.
  3. Utilizes previously developed trainings and resources to lead monthly network meetings on topics including, but not limited to: best business practices, recordkeeping, bookkeeping, business planning, marketing, developing parent handbooks, and budgeting.
  4. Seeks out knowledge of local and state wide financial resources available to small businesses and guides child care programs to these resources and through application processes.
  5. Works as a part of the Care Connections team to develop new services for both local small businesses and the extended shared services network.
  6. Collects and maintains data required for grant reporting.
  7. Collaborates with agency staff and other regional business coaches to ensure strong support for local providers.

General Business Support to Early Education Programs (10% of Time)
  1. Coordinate with Small Business Development Center and other small business support organizations to provide business support for early education programs.
  2. Provide additional assistance and training to established Early care and education small businesses as funding allows
  3. Become a trainer in multiple childcare business curricula and deliver trainings within assigned region.
  4. Provide coordination and training through projects intended to launch new childcare programs.
  5. Provide technical assistance to programs receiving grants on budgeting and tracking.

Care Connections Programmatic Support (10% of Time)
  1. Attend staff meetings and liaison meetings with the Early Learning Division
  2. Actively participate in staff professional development
  3. Contribute to newsletter
  4. Help to coordinate and provide community training at Retreat by the Lake and at other opportunities throughout the year
  5. Stay abreast of developments that affect child care providers, such as changes in licensing, funding opportunities, and further professionalization opportunities for the field.
  6. Participate in Care Connections projects as they develop, including various projects designed to increase and stabilize child are in our region.
  7. Collaborate positively with CCR&R team members to assure high quality services

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, accounting, business management, adult education, early childhood education or related field OR Associate degree in an above-mentioned field with the willingness and ability to enroll in a Bachelor's degree program
  • Two (2) years of business or non-profit experience
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into teaching and coaching methods
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of business administration.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and effectively manage time.
  • Ability to work varied hours including some evenings and weekends to meet scheduling demands of early learning professionals.
  • Ability to build collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, and provide services that are culturally competent and appropriate to the needs of the target audience.
  • Ability to independently perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to communicate formally and informally with a wide range of contacts and demonstrate empathy, and friendliness in dealing with people under stressful conditions, either by phone, through video or in person.
  • Ability to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.
  • Ability to use equipment necessary to carry out job responsibilities such as, but not limited to, computer and virtual training software such as Zoom and PowerPoint, child care management software, Google Sheets, and more.
  • Ability to create ongoing trusting relationships with early education programs to develop the most conducive environment for learning and reflection.
  • Ability to implement effective techniques for adult learning.
  • Ability to complete trainings required of this position, including but not limited to: training on using child care management software, bookkeeping/accounting, and life coach training.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants for this position possessing one or more of the following knowledge, skills and abilities with receive preferred consideration through the selection process.
  • Minimum of one year experience working in a program focused on child care/Early Childhood Education working with providers, early childhood educators, and families with young children.
  • Experience in providing adult education
  • Fluent in a language other than English (Spanish, Russian, etc. )


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSES:
  • Hold or ability to obtain valid driver's license and meet the college's insurance requirements
  • Hold or ability to hold an Infant Child CPR/First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass Oregon Child Care Central Background Registry/finger printing and SWOCC background check.
