Sterile Processing Technician Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use equipment to sterilize and decontaminate surgical and patient-care equipment
  • Log usage and maintain sterilization and decontamination equipment
  • Receive and track equipment to be used elsewhere in the facility or in other hospital facilities
  • Collaborate with surgery team leads to ensure timely processing and availability of critical equipment

Sterile Processing Technician Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current licensure as a Sterile Processing Technician (IAHCSMM and CBSPD)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Prior relevant experience in a health care environment
  • Ability to repeatedly lift up to 25 pounds
