Medication Technician Job Summary

We have an immediate opening for a Medication Technician at our long-term care facility. Under the supervision of our registered nurses, you will help administer medications to our residents. You will review each patient's file, check their current prescriptions, prepare dosages, and assist patient's with taking all their required medicines. We also expect our Medication Technicians to provide direct care to our residents and collaborate with other staff to ensure our patients receive the best care possible.

Medication Technician Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review patient records and discuss current medications with staff nurses
  • Prepare proper dosages and distribute medications to residents
  • Document all medicines taken to ensure patient records are current
  • Coordinate medication changes, refills, and deliveries with patient physicians and pharmacies

Medication Technician Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • LVN license (preferred)
  • 1+ years working with the elderly and assisting with medications (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must pass a background check and drug test
