ICU Nurse Job Summary

We are looking for an ICU Nurse to join the critical care unit of our hospital. In this role, you provide in-depth monitoring and patient care to individuals who are placed in intensive care for a compromised respiratory system, have complicated post-op needs, multisystem organ failure, or if their health is significantly compromised for some other reason. In addition to monitoring patient conditions, you assist with patient and family education. Once a patient becomes non-critical, you help coordinate the continuation of their care in a different unit of the hospital, unless they have recovered enough to coordinate their immediate discharge. In addition to your RN license, you must have your CCRN, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications to qualify for this position.

ICU Nurse Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide care to patients in critical condition
  • Monitor changes to patients' conditions
  • Assist with patient and family education
  • Coordinate discharges or continuations of care

ICU Nurse Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • RN license
  • CCRN, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Some clinical nursing experience (preferred)
  • Interpersonal communication skills
